The innovative and interactive Research Methodology Workshops take place on the first day of ISCONTOUR – Monday 13 May – in the afternoon.

Session 1:

Innovations in Tourism 2050: How to research and innovate for the future?
Julia Vögele (MCI Innsbruck)

Julia Vögele is a research assistant in the Department of Business and Management at MCI – The Entrepreneurial School. She completed both her BA degree in Tourism Economics and her MA degree in International Business and Management at MCI. Her research focuses on futurology, trend scouting, strategic foresight, sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship. As part of her work for Tirol Werbung, she researched global megatrends and their impact on the transformation of the Tyrolean tourism industry and society towards a sustainable future.


Session 2:

Cause-Effect Relationships in Social Science: An Introduction to the Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) Method
Giancarlo Fedeli

Giancarlo Fedeli is a Professor (FH) of Tourism Management at IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Austria. He has an academic and professional background with extensive international exposure in several countries (UK, USA, Australia, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Southeast Asia), having led over 70 research and consultancy assignments internationally. His research lies in the areas of digital marketing, misinformation issues, and technology adoption in tourism. Giancarlo´s expertise includes the design of surveys and data analysis for academic and industry inquiries and data analysis implanting both qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., economic data for EIA; Partial Least Square-PLS method).

How to get published in Scientific Journals?
Anita Zehrer (MCI Innsbruck)

Anita Zehrer holds the position of Professor and serves as the Head of the Family Business Center at MCI The Entrepreneurial School ®. Concurrently, she also assumes the role of Head of Research in the domain of Management and Society within the institution. Her scholarly pursuits are characterized by a breadth of research interests, with a primary emphasis on the landscape of family business management and entrepreneurial behavior in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The scholarly impact of Dr. Zehrer’s work is evidenced by publications in leading business management and tourism journals.


Session 4:

Pros and cons of ChatGPT for Sentiment Analysis
Katerina Volchek (Deggendorf Institute of Technology)

Katerina Volchek is a professor and a manager of the DigiHealth & Smart Tourism lab at Deggendorf Institute of Technology. She is an expert in customer experience, information and communication technologies and marketing strategy for tourism, including design of personalised services and optimisation ROI through marketing attribution. Currently, her research interest also lies in the capabilities of neuromarketing and smart environments for the service industries. Katerina serves as a Director for Marketing at the International Federation for Information Technologies and Travel & Tourism (IFITT).
